PFAS Treatment Plant

PFAS TREATMENT PLANT

The purification of water contaminated by PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) is a highly important and complex issue. PFAS are chemicals that are extremely persistent in both the environment and the human body, and their removal from water requires specific and advanced technologies.
It is important to note that the choice of method depends on the PFAS concentration, the quality of the incoming water, and the treatment objectives. For an effective intervention, it is advisable to rely on specialized technicians who can evaluate the specific case and propose the most suitable solution.
When we talk about PFAS in water, we refer to these chemicals being present as contaminants. They can end up in water due to industrial activities, the use of PFAS-containing products, or accidental spills. Once in the water, PFAS are very resistant to degradation, which means they can remain in the environment and in drinking water for a long time. The presence of PFAS in water can pose a risk to human health and to the environment, which is why they are monitored and treated with dedicated systems.
For this reason, CM Balestro Srl has patented and developed a purification plant capable of removing PFAS from water.
An innovative technology to address this harmful problem for the health of people, animals, and food.

PROCESS

Contaminated water enters the first storage tank.
Treatment with reactive carbon-based powders, with dosage regulated and adjusted based on the daily water volume to be treated and the concentration of PFAS present in the water.
Mixing of reagents with the water to be treated takes place in two tanks of approximately 15 m³ each, ensuring perfect homogeneity through paddle gearmotors.
Final filtration through sand (quartzite) filters with a backwash system to guarantee optimal and consistent filter performance.

In conclusion, treating PFAS in water is essential to ensure the safety and quality of drinking water.
CM Balestro Srl's filtration systems are effective in removing these contaminants. However, it is important to rely on professionals to design and manage proper treatment systems, as the choice of the most suitable technology depends on the contamination level and the specific characteristics of the water.
Investing in effective treatment systems is crucial to protect human health and the environment, helping to reduce the risks associated with PFAS.
